Improving your study skills can help you enjoy learning much more!
The right methods and strategies will save time, effort and energy
Every learner is unique. My work is bespoke to individual learning preferences and styles
Having supported nearly 150 students (and rising!) in further and higher education (FE/HE), across a wide range of academic disciplines, at undergraduate and postgraduate level, I have ten very enjoyable years of experience in study skills. So far, I have worked with learners studying at seven different UK universities, including the Open University.
As a qualified Specialist One-to-One Study Skills and Strategy Support Tutor, working privately, and with Students Awards Agency Scotland and Student Finance England, I support students of all abilities, including those with diagnosed learning disabilities (SpLDs) such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and dysgraphia.
I also work privately with professional people with an SpLD or who identify as neurodivergent, who are looking for strategies and support to manage key areas of their job. This not only helps people be more effective in their role, but it is crucial for personal confidence and a sense of achievement.
As a member of the National Autistic Society, I also support students and professionals who identify as neurodivergent (ADHD, ASC), and those who have issues with managing their mental health due to conditions such as depression and anxiety, all of which can have a negative impact on study, learning and managing work life.
I am an Associate Member of The Dyslexia Guild (ADG FE/HE), and I undergo yearly training as part of my ongoing CPD. Recent training programmes include the use of Developing Literacy Skills with Assistive Technology (DACPD96, 2018), Supporting Study Skills in Adults with Dyslexia (DACPD92, 2017), and Supporting Adults with Dyslexia and Co-Occurring Difficulties (DACPD91, 2020).
I have also worked as an Enterprise E-Mentor for The Prince's Trust, and I am the Mentor for the Somewhere MBA LGBT+ Scholarship at the University of Edinburgh Business School.
I would be delighted to help you enjoy your learning, or better enjoy your professional work. Through exploration and imagination, we'll create strategies as unique as you are. Get in touch today!
